Creative Therapies

Creative Therapies work on a non-verbal, brain based level allowing emotions to be expressed in a non-threatening engaging way.  Clients are able to engage and grow while having loads of fun!

Sessions use mediums such as Lego, Modelling Clay, Drumming, Slime-making and other hands on activities to support children and teens to help regulate their emotions, build capacity to empathize and communicate with peers.

Using tools such as ARC( Attachment, Regulation and Competency) Framework Therapy helps process complex trauma and build skills for young people and their carers.  Brainworks principles are also a big part of sessions, using movement to build healthy brain connections and support emotional regulation.

Family Matters has it's very own art studio just across the hall at the Creativity Matters Art Studio.  With our experienced artists, clients can engage in creative activities to improve their mental well being.   More information on upcoming workshops or art classes can be found here:

Children and teens can experience a range of emotions in a way that is hard to put into words which can impact parts of their brains that are still developing.  Play is a natural way that children navigate, problem solve and make sense of their world.

Tools like AutPlay Therapy,  specifically designed for neurodivergent children,  help support emotional regulation, executive functioning, social skills, mental wellbeing and trauma recovery.  Sessions include tailored play-based activities to build your child's skills and help their brains to grow in a healthy way.   The best part is that your kids will have fun while they’re at it!

Play therapy sessions focus on areas such as :

    Improving mental health

    Social skills and communication

Regulating emotions & expressing them in a healthy way

Problem solving, planning and impulse control

    Building and keeping friendships

    Attachment and healthy relationships

    Trauma recovery

Early intervention has been proven to have life long benefits by creating healthy neural pathways for recovery and better life outcomes.
