Meet Our Team
Started in 2015 by Susan and Darryl Peters, Family Matters has now grown into a team of Stanthorpe locals who care deeply about supporting the mental health, growth and recovery of people in our community.
Darryl Peters (MACA)
LEAD COUNSELLOR AND THERAPIST
Darryl has over 25 years of experience working with families, children, and young people. He is a qualified Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association and has University Qualifications in Counselling, Science (Human Movement), and is currently studying a Masters of Neuroscience through the University of New England. People often describe Darryl as 'down to earth' and 'easy to talk to'. His happy place is on his small hobby farm with his chooks or painting Warhammer miniatures.
Susan Peters
cREATIVITY mATTERS FOUNDER AND aDMINISTRATION
Susan is our Creativity Matters Support Worker and Office Practice Manager. She has a lifetime of experience in various artistic mediums and expresses herself through mixed media and water colour. Susan was awarded Emerging Artist in 2019 and was a finalist in the Stanthorpe Art Prize. She is a carer for a family member and has a passion for seeing fellow carers supported. Susan and Darryl have been married for 29 years and love being a part of the Stanthorpe community.
Katherine Ranson
RECEPTION
Katherine is our super-efficient receptionist at Family Matters. Kat exudes calmness and keeps the front desk running smoothly. She has had a long career in both administration and child care and brings all of those skills to the business. Kat is happiest relaxing with her husband and dog Luna.
Bre West
THERAPY ASSISTANT, aRTIST AND CREATIVITY MATTERS SUPPORT WORKER
Bre is a much loved member of the Family Matters Team. Joining in September 2024 Bre is already an essential member of the Creativity Matters crew and now will be expanding into a Therapy Assistant Role. Bre is a familiar face around Stanthorpe having previously been the owner and operator of Granite Ink. Bre has been a professional artist for 9 years (specialising in tattoo art) and is a lifetime crafter. Bre is currently studying a Bachelor of Counselling.
Amy Peters
Artist AND CREATIVITY MATTERS SUPPORT WORKER
Amy is an artist who is currently studying a Bachelor of Archeology with a special focus on textiles. She brings this specialization to her work at Creativity Matters and we're very lucky to have such a talented artist with us. She instructs groups and works with individuals in our studio. Her happy place is info dumping with friends about her latest archeological research discovery and hanging out with her pet bearded dragon Sonny.
